Introducing Alex Phung.
Co-founder and managing director of Salon Space
With a formal background in Business, and personal experience running, managing and operating a variety of ventures, one thing I have been consistently passionate about is creating positive, lasting change in the communities and industries I operate. With an unwavering passion for community empowerment and a commitment to continuous learning, I have dedicated my career to creating opportunities for anyone to be able to flourish as independent business owners.
Leveraging knowledge from my complementary project, Melbourne Hair Hunters, I have worked to cultivate an online community, fostering the connection between clients and freelancers to provide a meeting point, booking system and online platform to share work, ideas and inspiration. An advocate for bringing people together, I am committed to fostering this supportive network, dedicated to freelancers and their unique challenges (and opportunities), and morphing it out of the digital realm and into ‘the real world’. Salon Space was born with this connection at its heart.
As Salon Space’s Managing Director, alongside my partners, we continue to embed this philosophy, merging it with the efficiencies that the right tools and tech brings. By connecting and developing innovative digital tools and experiences, I aim to enable hairdressers and beauty experts to manage their businesses with the freedom and autonomy to succeed on their terms.

The beauty industry is a dynamic field that combines creativity, science, and personal expression. It’s constantly evolving with new trends, technologies, and products that can make a significant impact on people’s confidence and well-being.
Personally, I have found it to be such a refreshingly supportive and hungry to learn community, that has welcomed me with open arms. They are passionate about their craft, it is the all the boring paperwork, business admin and technology that seems to be getting in the way.
